Entrepreneur Series - Success on and off the track: An interview with Olympian Sir Chris Hoy MBE

British cycling legend Sir Chris Hoy MBE talks about his strategies for coping under pressure and how this has now been channelled into a new business life.

From his first Olympic Gold in Athens in 2004, right through to the Team GB medals in London 2012, our video interview tells the story of one of Britain's greatest ever Olympians - what put him on the path to success, and kept him there, together with insight into his career after retiring from professional cycling.

As part of a new partnership and sponsorship between HSBC UK and British Cycling, we interviewed Sir Chris as part of our mission to support both human and entrepreneurial spirit. We found him inspiring and clear-minded about the things that drove his success and his advice really struck a chord.

His love of cycling will always be with him, but now Sir Chris faces a new, longer term challenge. He had to think beyond being an athlete and subsequently refocused his energy into new opportunities. He now writes well received children's books and has his own range of HOY Bikes, adding entrepreneur and ambassador to his list of achievements.

Sir Chris outlines his method of success, communicating that he strongly believes in enjoying life but balancing it with hard work and not being too proud or shy to ask for help and advice, from both experts and role models. Having a plan and good attitude are crucial, as is aiming high by focusing on the process that will get you to your goals, not necessarily the goal itself.

A big supporter of the next generation, Sir Chris has already set an amazing benchmark and legacy, but won't be stopping anytime soon as he pedals towards even greater success in the future.
