When one of our clients in Europe became the sole logistics partner to a major mobile phone business in Latin America, HSBC Private Bank’s worldwide connections really came into focus.
The business venture gave exclusive rights for the purchase, storage, packaging and distribution of an estimated 50 million mobile phones a year, to all points of sale in the region. Our client approached us to help lead the financing.
We contacted the Madrid-based HSBC Commercial Banking team, who have strong links with the telecommunications industry. They were able to secure financing with a potential extended scope of over $400 million, part of which involved a loan facility syndicated across 12 other major banks.
With the support of a trilingual Geneva-based team who understood the market, our client was given access to account opening, cash management, foreign exchange and a range of other local banking services.
