The opportunity: The head of a South-East Asian family was looking to invest in a film company in New York. Being based in Singapore, he needed a way to get local investment advice in a location beyond the reach of his business network.

Our solution: Our Global South Asian Diaspora team (GSAD) put the client in touch with our team in New York. We were then able to connect him with an experienced investment specialist, who provided in-depth, on-the-ground expertise on the investment opportunity.

Outcomes: The client was able to make an informed decision about the opportunity and was so impressed with our ability to make the right connection that he engaged us in further areas, strengthening and expanding the long-standing relationship that we already have with this family. For example, we’ve since provided structured finance for a granddaughter’s schooling in London, and helped his son to set up an IT business in Hong Kong, with the support of HSBC Commercial Banking.
